Desynergize

I’ve been feeling more interested and invigorated toward investing again, although I don’t foresee a lot of posting here — being a news source or opinion columnist about investing is somewhat antithetical to the tenets of my investing philosophy. However, here’s a relatively recent interview with Sardar Biglari, a young gun Chairman and CEO somewhat styled after other investor-chairmans.

I particularly like this quote from the interview: “The cost, of course, is lack of synergy, which is overrated, whereas non-integration is underrated.” I was nodding my head to that, thinking of course of Skype and eBay, although there are numerous times I get that feeling. Why the love of “synergy” beyond all reason?
